Hibs have today approached Everton for permission to speak to Alan Stubbs about the vacant manager's post at Easter Road.

The Everton reserve team manager is on Hibs CEO Leeann Dempster's shortlist of candidates to replace Terry Butcher.

Stubbs, 42, knows Scottish football well from his time with Celtic in the 90's, and was interviewed for the vacant Everton post last year, only to lose out to Wigan boss Roberto Martinez.

Hibs are expected to speak to Stubbs, who is keen to become a boss in his own right, in the next few days.
