Hibs are said to be back on the trail of former Aberdeen defender Michael Hart.

Boss John Hughes tried to land the full back on loan from English Championship side Preston in January, but new Preston boss Darren Ferguson blocked the move.

Hart has struggled to hold down a regular first team spot at Deepdale since signing from Aberdeen two years ago in a £100,000 deal, and he has now been released after only 19 games in that time.

Things did look good for Hart when Ferguson took over at PNE, he first blocked the loan move to the Hibees, then played Hart in 8 straight games, but the player has only played once since then.

Hibs boss John Hughes now seems keen to reignite his interest in the 30-year-old former Livingston defender after his departure from Preston, and bring him back over the border to Easter Road in the summer.
