Hibs block Bursik loan cancellation

It's been revealed that Hibs have blocked the chance to let out-of-favour keeper Josef Bursik out of his loan deal at Easter Road.

Bristol Rovers wanted to take over the loan until the end of the season from Club Brugge, but Hibs boss David Gray was keen to keep him, instead of hunting for another keeper.

Bursik, 24, started the season as the Hibees Number One, but after some dreadful performances has lost his place to Jordan Smith, who has been a revelation since taking over.

The former Stoke City man now has a fight on his hands to try and wrestle the shirt back from the impressive Smith.

HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW

We must admit, we are surprised by this one.

We thought Bursik's days at Easter Road were coming to an end and that we may see a replacement signed.

However, boss David Gray is sticking with him until the summer.
