Hibs boss Colin Calderwood set for Birmingham switch???

Hibs manager Colin Calderwood is tonight said to be close to agreeing a move to Birmingham City.

The Hibees, only last week, issued a statement refuting claims that Calderwood was close to a return to Nottingham Forest as No.2 to new boss Steve McClaren.

McClaren has since confirmed that he has spoken to Calderwood and wants him back at the City Ground.

Sky Sports are reporting that Calderwood has entered talks with Birmingham City about being appointed No.2 to new Brum boss Chris Hughton.

Calderwood was No.2 to Hughton while he was at Newcastle United, before the Hibees pounced to appoint him manager in October.

Hibs are rumoured to have a clause in Calderwood’s contract that means any suitor would have to pay between £500,000 & £1m to land the former Scotland international, and as yet it’s not clear whether Birmingham have reached an agreement with Hibs.

If this is true then Mr Calderwood has shown our club very little respect, after we gave him a chance of being a No.1 again.

Hibs need to move quickly and replace him, especially with the fact Calderwood was allowed to ship 18 players out the club, we are looking a fair bit short of numbers in the squad, with only four weeks until the new SPL season begins.

If a new manager comes in, he will have a short space of time to take stock of what he has in his squad, and what he needs to add.

Hopefully the next man in the hot seat shows our club a bit more loyalty.
