Hibs are locked in a fight with SPL rivals Rangers to sign Algerian keeper Mohamed Benhamou.

The players agent has revealed that the Hibees have approached Benhamou, with a view to singing on at Easter Road.

Benhamou, 29, has played for PSG, Red Star Belgrade and AS Cannes, he is currently playing for MC Alger of Algeria, but is a free agent in the summer.

He has also been capped 7 times by Algeria.

The keeper's agent said:

"I have two contacts for Benhamou in Scotland with Rangers and Hibernian.

"Rangers want to recruit a back-up goalkeeper and I don't deny that Madjid Bougherra played a part in this. He recommended Benhamou.

"Hibs are very interested. Therefore, he has the choice of being No 2 at Rangers or No 1 at Hibs."
