Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen is said to be eyeing up a move for young St Johnstone full back Gary Irvine.
The 23-year-old is said to be high on Mixu's radar, after the poor form of current right back David Van Zanten.
Van Zanten arrived on a pre-contract agreement from St Mirren last summer but has failed to shine at Easter Road.
Irvine signed for St Johnstone in 2007 for a fee of £24,000 from Celtic and is attracting the interest of a number of clubs.
Hibs are favourites to land the player, but would probably have to double the fee St Johnstone paid for him.
Irvine has now played 50 games for St Johnstone, and also spent some time on loan at Ross County from Celtic and made 20 appearances.
