The 24-year-old has been in talks with
Crewe for a number of weeks, as they look to replace Nicky Maynard, after he signed for Bristol City in a £2.25m deal.

Donaldson has agreed terms with
Crewe boss Steve Holland and a deal is expected to be completed over the weekend or early next week.

The Hibees will receive £160,000 upfront and then another £40,000 depending on appearances for the Alex.

Darlington and Oldham Athletic are also thought to be interested in the player, but it looks like he has signed for Crewe Alexandra.

English hitman Donaldson joined the Hibees on a pre-contract agreement last summer from
York City following a prolific spell at Kit Kat Crescent.

He scored 42 goals in 86 appearances but his spell in
Edinburgh has not been so fruitful. He played only 18 games for the Hibees scoring 6 goals.

Donaldson's departure will free up wages as Hibs gaffer Mixu Paatelainen looks to bring in a goalkeeper and a left back to complete his new look Hibs squad.
