Hibs defender McGregor has red card overturned

Hibs have today been handed the good news that defender Darren McGregor has won his appeal to have his recent red card rescinded.

McGregor was sent off last Wednesday night against Morton at Easter Road, after he confronted Morton player Kudus Oyenuga, after his shocking challenge on fellow Hibs defender Jordon Forster.

The Scottish Cup winning club legend ran over to confront Oyenuga, who went down clutching his face, despite hardly, if any at all, contact from the former Rangers man.

At today's Hampden hearing a Hibs delegation, led by George Craig, won the appeal and had the card downgraded to a yellow, allowing McGregor to play against, you guessed it, Morton at Cappielow on Saturday.

Hibs boss Neil Lennon was delighted, he said:

"I feel vindicated. Having Darren on Saturday is very important. That's the third red card we've had rescinded this season, twice by the same referee, so I don't know if that's some kind of record.

"People say these things even themselves out, so hopefully we'll be playing against 10 men for the next three games.

"The compliance officer is not here to please me, he's here to do a job he thinks is fair. If he believes the evidence put in front of him isn't enough to justify Oyenuga being punished, you've got to accept that.

"You've also got the referee's report and he says he was 30, 40 yards away and I was two, but we move on."
