Exciting young Hibs defender Ryan Porteous has tonight been called up to the Scotland squad.
The 20-year-old centre half has been promoted from the U21 squad, by national boss Steve Clarke, after Leeds defender Liam Cooper was amongst a raft of call-offs for the up-coming World Cup qualifiers against Cyprus and Kazakhstan.
Porteous has been in excellent form for the Hibees following his lengthy injury lay-off and is now in with a chance of winning his first full international cap.
Editor's View:
Thoroughly deserved call-up for a very exciting young defender.
Porteous has been excellent since returning from his long-term knee injury and after some impressive u21 performances has caught the eye.
He keeps getting better and better, and in this Hibby's opinion, he is as good, if not better, a centre half as anyone of his peers.
He still has a lot to learn, but what a player young Ryan could become.
A future Hibs and Scotland captain in the making.
Well deserved.
