Hibs defender Ryan Porteous signs new contract

Hibs defender Ryan Porteous has today signed a new deal with the club.

On the same day it was announced that the youngster needed surgery on a knee injury picked up at the weekend,

Hibs have revealed that he has signed a new, improved, deal that runs until the summer of 2023.

Speaking to the official club website Sporting Director Graeme Mathie said:

“We are delighted to reach agreement with Ryan and his representatives to improve the terms of his contract.

“We work on the basis that the contracts for our Development players are standard and structured in a way that rewards them as they progress to make an impact in the first team.

“Ryan has worked his way to a point that he’s considered a key first-team player and we were delighted that he will continue his progression at the club for the foreseeable future."

Excellent news, this laddie is a Hibs captain and Scotland international in waiting.

He has been superb since breaking through the club's academy, and has become a firm favourite with the club's support.

Let's hope he makes a speedy recovery from injury.
