Hibs have been dealt a hammer blow as they chase a Europa League spot in the SPL, with the news that defender Sol Bamba has been hit with a three-game ban. Bamba picked up a booking on Sunday against Celtic, his 7th of the season, and this has pushed him through the points barrier of the SFA's disciplinary points limit. The 25-year-old will be free to face Hamilton Accies this weekend, and also the first fixture after the SPL split, but he will then miss the first three of the last four remaining fixtures of the season. It further adds to the Hibees defensive crisis, with Chris Hogg, Kevin McCann and Paul Hanlon already out, leaving only Steven Thicot, Ian Murray and Darren McCormack as cover for the centre of defence. Hibs boss John Hughes said of Bamba’s ban: "What Sol did was really stupid and his absence is definitely going to hamper us with Chris and Paul struggling. I could understand Sol's frustration and it was a pity because I thought he was immense yesterday, back to his old self."
