According to a report coming out of Portugal, Hibs have entered the race to sign Benfica defender Fancisco Ferro.
The 25-year-old is currently on loan with Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem, but Benfica seem keen to cancel the deal for him to move to another club.
Three MLS clubs, including Kansas City, have failed to talk him into moving to the USA, but the Hibees are apparently favourites, in-front of Greeks Panathanikos, to land the player.
A BOLA claim Hibs are in pole position to land the player on loan until the end of the season.
6ft 4in Ferro has played over 60 games for Benfica, and has also had loan spells with Valencia and Hadjuk Split and has Champions League experience.
He has also been capped by Portugal all the way from U17 to U21 level.
Hibs are in the market for a couple of defenders, after Ryan Porteous joined Watford in a £500,000 deal and Rocky Bushiri picked up a long-term injury.
The Hibees are already in talks to land Scotland international Stuart Findlay from Oxford United and have been linked with a loan move for Sunderland defender Bailey Wright.
HIBS-MAD VIEW:
We've got to admit, this boy excites us and looks absolute quality.
He has played plenty games for Benfica, and has also played for a massive club like Valencia as well as Hadjuk Split.
If we can tie down Stuart Findlay and Ferro, it would be two quality central defenders that we have been crying out for.
