Hibs keeper Adam Bogdan signs new deal

Last updated : 16 January 2020 By Steve Forbes

Hibs keeper Adam Bogdan has today signed a new deal with the club.

The 32-year-old Hungarian international has signed a deal until the end of the season.

Bogdan only re-joined the Hibees on a short term deal in November after his release from Liverpool, where he had been on loan from the previous season.

He joins just as Chris Maxwell is expected to leave the club, the on-loan Preston keeper is looking likely to head to Blackpool on loan, however there is chat that this could now be permanent.

Speaking to the official website, Bogdan said:

“As I said in November, it feels so natural for me to be back at Hibernian.

“I know the players, the staff and the club inside-out and vice versa. My family and I are also really settled in the city.

“I was always hopeful that we would extend the agreement and the offer to go to the training camp in Spain was a show of faith from both sides.

“I read some kinds words from Ofir talking about me and it goes without saying that I have a lot of respect for him.

“We help each other out on a daily basis and try to keep standards high but, like any player, I want to do everything that I can to play.

“There’s healthy competition there.

“At the same time, if I can do anything to help the likes of Kevin and Paddy to progress than I’ll do that. You have to lead by example.”

Bogdan is an excellent signing, he was in good form for the Hibees last season before he picked up a concussion injury and lost his place to Ofir Marciano.

He was a stand-out as the Hibees beat Greek cracks Asteris Tripolis in the Europa League last season.

It's the first bit of business the club has done this window, and they are actively looking for a new striker and defensive midfielder, let's hope it's not too long before we hear news on a new signing.
