Hibs keeper Murray Johnson has tonight joined Queen of the South on loan for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Airdrieonians, and played 13 times, but has been recalled after not playing since November.
Johnson now re-joins League One promotion chasers the Doonhamers, having had a short loan spell with them in July 2023, before being recalled by Hibs due to a keeper crisis at the time.
Speaking to the official club website, Hibernian FC’s Sporting Director Malky Mackay commented:
“We’ve decided to move Murray to Queen of the South as we believe that’s the best environment to help him progress.
“We monitor our young players very closely, and playing time is a key element of these kind of development loans.
“This is an opportunity for Murray to continue playing regular men’s football, and we wish him and Queen of the South the best of luck.”
HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW
A good move for Murray.
He had fallen out-of-favour with Airdrieonians, and it makes sense for him to gain more game time than sit on the bench.
Johnson has a big future ahead of him at Easter Road, and gaining as much game time as possible will help him massively.
