It has been announced today, with much sadness, that Hibs legend Lawrie Reilly has passed away at the age of 84.

Reilly was the last surviving member of the Hibees legendary forward line of Lawrie Reilly, Eddie Turnbull, Bobby Johnstone, Gordan Smith and Willie Ormond.

Lawrie passed away peacefully in hospital in the early hours of Monday morning.

He is still Hibernian's most capped player with 38 appearances and 22 goals for Scotland.

He signed for the club as a 16-year-old and went on to score an incredible 238 goals in 355 games in the green and white, and that was with him having to retire, through injury, at 28!

Reilly was part of the Hibs side that won 3 League titles, and reached the European Cup Semi Final in 1955.

Hibernian-Mad can't do the man justice, the official club website has done a cracking tribute to him here:

Everyone connected to Hibernian-Mad would like to pass on our condolences to Lawrie's family, and pay tribute to not only a very nice man, but a true Hibernian legend.

Hibernian-Mad would like to take this opportunity to call on the Hibernian family to come out in force, for Thursday night's Europa League, 2nd round, 2nd leg qualifying game against Malmo at Easter Road, to not only honour Reilly, but to lift the roof off the stadium and roar the club through to the next round - a fitting tribute.
