Hibs linked with Plymouth defender Julio Pleguezuelo

Hibs have today been linked with Playmouth defender Julio Pleguezuelo.

Pleguezuelo, 27, is out-of-favour at Home Park and according to journo Alan Nixon, Hibs boss David Gray is set to swoop to land the former Barcelona youth product.

The Spaniard spent time in the youth systems of Barca, Espanyol & Athletico Madrid before finally making the breakthrough with Arsenal, but only managed one game in the English Premiership.

He spent two loan spells back in his homeland with Mallorca and Gimnastic, before leaving the Gunners on a free transfer for Dutch side FC Twente.

Pleguezuelo spent four seasons in the Eredivisie and played nearly 100 games in the Dutch top-flight before returning to England with Plymouth Argyle two years ago.

He has found game time with the Championship strugglers limited, having made only 8 appearances this season and is expected to leave the club in the near future, having entered the last 6 months of his contract.

Nixon states that Argyle are more than willing to sell him to Hibs to get him off the wage bill and allow them to bring in new defenders.

HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW

It makes sense that Hibs are looking to bring in another central defender.

Gray has switched to a back three, and with only four central defenders on the books, another body in that area is needed.

Marvin Ekpiteta is still out and Warren O'Hora has only just returned, meaning the Hibees had been operating with right back Lewis Miller in the centre, which magnified the problem.

Will Hibs make a move??
