Hibs linked with St Pat's Winger Darragh Burns

Hibs have tonight been linked with their second Irish player in the last 24 hours.

News broke yesterday that the club was on the verge of beating Celtic to the £130,000 capture of Sligo Rovers striker Johnny Kenny and it seems another is on the radar.

The Hibees have now been linked wth a January swoop for St Pat's winger Darragh Burns.

According to the Irish website Independent.ie the Hibees have invited the 19-year-old to this week's League Cup Final with Celtic at Hampden.

Unlike Kenny, Burns has no release in his deal with the Dublin club, so Hibs would need to agree a fee with the Airtricity Premier League side.

Hibs have some competition for his signature, and would need to fight it out with several English clubs, including League One side Oxford, to land the highly rated youngster.

Burns has played 37 times for St Pat's and scored 9 goals.

He has been capped by Northern Ireland AND Republic of Ireland at U17 level and Northern Ireland at U19 level.

However, he is in the process of changing his allegiance back to the Republic.

Hibernian-Mad View:

The Hibees are clearly taking a keen interest in the Irish market.

It's good to see the club scouring other countries for young and exciting talent to bring to Edinburgh.

Burns is young but has some decent first team exposure behind him, so is no rookie.
