Hibs linked with Sunderland defender Bailey Wright

Hibs have tonight been linked with a move for Sunderland defender Bailey Wright.

According to the Scottish Sun, the Hibees will battle it out with Aberdeen to land the 30-year-old on loan.

Hibs boss Lee Johnson is hoping knowing the player from his spell as Black Cats manager, will swing the deal in Hibs favour, as they look to find a replacement for out-going Ryan Porteous.

Aberdeen have apparently already opened talks with the English side, but Hibs will also make an offer to land the Australian international.

Johnson has signed him twice already, when he was Bristol City manager, and he then took him to the North East with him, initially on loan, before a permanent deal was struck.

Wright has plenty experience in England, having played for Preston North End, Bristol City and Sunderland, making over 390 appearances in 15 seasons.

HIBS-MAD VIEW:

They type of defender Hibs are crying out for, with plenty experience at a good level.

Hopefully Lee Johnson can persuade him his future is in Edinburgh.
