Hibs linked with THREE midfielders

Hibs have today been linked with the signing of THREE new midfielders, with none of them depending on the exit of in demand midfield dynamo Scott Allan.

First up, the Sun newspaper is reporting that classy former St Mirren midfielder John McGinn, 20, was shown round East Mains this afternoon, and held "informal" signing talks with the club.

According to the report Hibs boss Alan Stubbs is keen to pair McGinn with Allan in the Hibees midfield.

The stumbling block would have been the compensation due to St Mirren, who wanted £200,000 for the player, but McGinn is in legal talks with the Paisley club after he was speared in a training ground accident, and there's been unconfirmed reports that McGinn could drop any legal moves if the Saints drop their compensation demands to other clubs.

Rumours hitting social media claim that Hibs are willing to pay £100,000 compensation for the player.

Hibs have also been linked with a move for former loan player Dylan McGeouch.

The 22-year-old sparkled in the Hibees midfield last season, and the club are keen on a return for the player.

Apparently contact has been made with Celtic, and the club has been told any move will cost £100,000.

The third player linked with Easter Road is former Rangers youngster Rhys McCabe.

The 23-year-old has been offered a trial at East Mains by Hibs boss Alan Stubbs and is expected to arrive in the next few days.

McCabe is a free agent after he was released by Sheffield Wednesday earlier this summer.

The former Scotland U21 player also had a short loan spell with Portsmouth.

Hibs midfield is still looking a little lightweight after the losses of Liam Craig, Scott Robertson and Dylan McGeouch in the summer. Alex Harris and Sam Stanton are also expected to leave on loan deals.

So far only Marvin Bartley has been signed to beef up the centre of midfield.
