Hibs attacker Dean Shiels is thought to be on the verge of signing a new "big money" deal at Easter Road.

Shiels, 23, is to sign new contract, just months after it looked like he was on his way out of the club.

Former manager John Collins didn't rate Shiels and constant rumours of a move to
Aberdeen always seemed to be in the background.

The former Arsenal kid's fortunes changed dramatically when Mixu Paatelainen took over from John Collins in the Hibees hot seat, with Shiels scoring a hat-trick in Mixu's first game in charge as the Hibees thumped Inverness Caledonian Thistle 3-0 at Easter Road in the Scottish Cup.

Plymouth Argyle are thought to be monitoring the situation, but Shiels is keen stay in
Edinburgh and don the Hibees shirt for the foreseeable future.

The Ulsterman scored an impressive 10 goals from the Hibees midfield last season and remains a fans favourite.

Excellent news. DEEEAAAANNNNNNNOOOO!
