Hibs midfielder Ewan Henderson joins K.V. Oostende on loan

Hibs have tonight confirmed that midfielder Ewan Henderson has joined Belgian side K.V. Oostende.

The 23-year-old has joined the second-tier side on loan until the end of the season.

Henderson has found game time at Easter Road limited this season, only making one appearance, and has never held down a regular place in the first team since joining from Celtic, initially on loan in January 2022, making the move permanent the following summer.

K.V. Oostende have inserted an option to buy in the loan, that would net the Hibees a six-figure fee, should he impress.

Henderson has played 56 times for Hibs, scoring 5 goals.

Speaking to the official club website, Hibs boss Lee Johnson said:

“We wish Hendo all the best during his loan spell in Belgium. This gives him the opportunity to gain regular game-time as K.V. Oostende look to bounce straight back into the top-tier of Belgian football.”

HIBS-MAD VIEW:

It's no great surprise to see Hendo leave, he has hardly been involved this season.

Previous to that he had struggled to stay in the team.

However, Hibs squad is stretched quite thin after the rigours of our European run.

We've a number of players carrying injuries, and we have also recently allowed Elias Melkersen and Dan Mackay to leave on loan as well.

The club are in desperate need of 3 or 4 new faces and this frees up another wage.

Let's hope we have a few deals in the pipeline.
