Hibs midfielder Lewis Stevenson offered new deal

It’s been revealed today that Hibs midfielder Lewis Stevenson has been offered a new contract at Easter Road.

The 23-year-old looked to be heading out of the club earlier in the season, when he failed to hold down a regular place under former boss John Hughes.

Stevenson’s fortunes changed when Colin Calderwood took the hotseat, with him playing more regularly.

It now seems Stevenson has impressed Calderwood enough, that he has been offered a one-year-deal to stay at the club.

Stevenson broke on to the seen with the Hibees in spectacular fashion, after coming through the club’s famous youth set-up, and then going on to hold down a regular place in the first team.

He made his debut away to Aberdeen at Pittodrie under former manager John Collins in 2007

He capped it all by being named man-of-the-match in the 2007 Scottish League Cup Final, as the Hibees defeated Kilmarnock 5-1 at Hampden to lift the trophy.

Stevenson is the first player that has been offered a new deal, with a host of player’s out-of-contract in the summer.

Hogg, Zemmama, Currie, Bamba and Grounds all left in January.

Nish, Rankin, McBride, Smith, Byrne, Moyes, Flynn and Trakys have been told they are free to leave the club in the summer.

Stevenson has now gone on to make over 100 appearances for the Hibees, and now has the chance to make a few more.
