Hibs reject £1m Ipswich Town bid for John McGinn

Last updated : 25 June 2017 By Steve Forbes

According to the Sunday Mail, Hibs have turned down a £1m offer from Ipswich Town for midfielder John McGinn.

The news comes just days after striker Jason Cummings joined Nottingham Forest for an undisclosed fee, thought to be well over £1m.

It's been speculated all summer that Hibs would struggle to hold on to the 22-year-old, with Celtic, Watford and West Brom some of the sides linked to the player in the past.

Apparently the offer was rejected last week and Hibs are not looking to sell their prize asset.

He has been capped 3 times by Scotland, played European football, won both doemstic cup competitions (Scottish Cup with Hibs, League Cup with St Mirren) and still has two years left on his contract.

It also has to be taken in to consideration that St Mirren have an apparent 33% sell-on clause, that was added to the deal that took him to Easter Road in 2015.

Hibs are also said to have paid around the £150,000 mark in compensation at the time.

Ipswich Town would have to up their offer significantly for Hibs to even considering selling him.
