Hibs reject 2.5m Watford bid for Josh Doig

Last updated : 29 June 2021 By Steve Forbes

Hibs have thrown out and offer of £2.5m for wonderkid Josh Doig from English Premier League side Watford.

According to the Scottish Sun, the deal could have reached £4m, but the offer was highly dependent on appearances and success.

The 19-year-old was a revelation last season, after breaking into Jack Ross' first team squad.

Doig played 35 times in his maiden season as a first team player, and has attracted massive interest, with Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Leeds United, AC Milan, Aston Villa, Sunderland, Celtic and Stoke City all having been credited with an interest n the Scotland U19 star.

Watford are already preparing another bid (let's hope it's a lot better), so interest in Doig will be huge.

Nowhere near enough for one of the most talented players to come out of our academy in a long time.

Hibs should be looking to get in the £5m-£7m range, but it could be hard to hold on to him.

Hopefully a sell-on clause will also be inserted.
