Hibs have tonight revealed that midfielder Matt Thornhill has left the club.

The English midfielder has agreed a contract termination with the club, and leaves with immediate effect.

23-year-old Thornhill joined the club from Nottingham Forest 12 months ago, but has struggled with injury, and failed to hold down a regular place in the Hibees first team.

Big things were expected of the former Forest youth player, but he arrived at the club injured, and struggled with various injuries during his stay in Edinburgh.

Thornhill leaves with the club with just 15 appearances under his belt, and becomes the latest casualty of manager Pat Fenlon's clearout at Easter Road.

Victor Palsson and youngster David Crawford have already left the club, and it's thought the Hibees are in discussions with Junior Agogo, Akpo Sodje and Sean Welsh about their futures at the club.
