Mailey & Lynch: Both released

Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen has today revealed that he has released yet another two players from Easter Road.

Youngsters Patrick Mailey and Sean Lynch have been told they have no future at the club and the Hibees have released the pair.

Both player's came through the famous Hibernian youth system, but have been unable to make the grade.

Paatelainen has always stated that he thought the squad was too big and that he wanted to free up some space in the squad, with Lynch and Mailey becoming the latest casualties.

The big Finn has already let Keegan Ayre(released), Mickael Antoine-Curier (released - Dundee), Patrick Noubissie (released), Abdel Zarabi (released), Dermott McCaffrey (released - Falkirk), Abdessalam Benjelloun (Loan - RSC Charleroi) and Clayton Donaldson (£200,000 - Crewe Alexandra) leave Easter Road this summer, with the possibility of more to follow.

There is doubt hanging over the futures of Brian Kerr and Thierry Gatheussi at Easter Road and there is also the ongoing saga of misfit Polish keeper Zibi Malkowski, who still has 1 year left on his contract.

Paatelainen said of the young duo:

"It's all about looking after the boys' careers. I know they'll be hurting right now, leaving a great club with a fantastic training centre and fabulous supporters, but in time I'm sure they'll understand that it is better for their careers and development to move on rather than stay here. I don't want that and I am sure they wouldn't want to be doing that either.

"Sean and Paddy are two youngsters very keen to make a career in football for themselves and I am sure they will if they continue to show the same effort, determination and application they did at Hibs. We thank them for all their efforts and wish them all the best for the future."

Lynch, 21, has played for the Hibees first team on five occasions, he made his first team debut against
Aberdeen at Pittodrie as a Hibs side made up of mainly youth player's held the Dons to a 2-2 draw, but couldn't hold down a regular place in the team.

He also spent some time on loan at first division side St Johnstone last season but was injured in his first game and returned to Easter Road. He has been capped at Scotland U19 and U20 level and was part of the
Scotland squad at last summer's U20 World Cup in Canada.

Mailey, 21, never made a first team appearance for the Hibees since signing from Northern Irish side Institute in 2005.

The 6ft 3in Irish centre half spent some time on loan at 3rd division club Stenhousemuir.

Everyone here at Hibernian-Mad would like to wish both player's well in the future.
