In what will be seen as quite a surprise, Hibs have announced that they have released young forward Damon Gray.

The 20-year-old was a prolific forward for the Hibees U19 and reserve sides, scoring in the region of 40 goals in a couple of years.

Gray made his Hibees debut at Hampden against Dunfermline in the Scottish Cup Semi Final, and went on to make 5 appearances in all.

He scored his only goal in a 2-2 draw with Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

The little Geordie striker also had two loan spells with Partick Thistle, making 25 appearances and scoring 7 goals.

Gray becomes the latest player to be released by Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen, after Fabian Yantorno was also released.

Ross Campbell, Joe Keenan, Ross Chisholm and Andy McNeil are expected follow Gray out the door.

Steven Pinau will also leave following his pointless loan deal at Easter Road.

There is also a doubt whether Grzegorz Szamotulski and Denes Rosa will stay on in Edinburgh, both players only signed 6 month deals in January and Hibs are currently in talks with both to extend their stay.

Abdessalam Benjelloun looks like he could also be on his way out and fellow Moroccan Merouane Zemmama's future is also unclear, both are currently out on loan.

Question marks remain over the futures of both Alan O'Brien and Jonatan Johansson, following poor seasons in green and white.

Add to that the likely big money transfers of both Steven Fletcher and Rob Jones, and their is going to be big changes down Leith way this summer.

Hibernian-Mad would like to take this opportunity to wish Damon Gray all the very best in the future.
