Hibs reserve side was in action this afternoon, against their Motherwell counterparts and ran out comfortable winners.

The Hibees second string ran out 5-1 winners against a young 'Well eleven at Almondvale.

Clayton Donaldson gave the Hibees the lead from about 15 yards out after some good work from Ross Chisholm.

Young Motherwell keeper Steven Coutts was having a tremendous game and denied the Hibees a number of times before Kurtis Byrne put Hibs 2-0 up.

Irishman Byrne was on hand to knock in the rebound after he had produced a neat turn and shot, which Coutts saved brilliantly, only for the ball to land at the feet of Byrne just yards from goal, he made no mistake.

Just a couple of minutes into the second half and the Hibees got themselves 3-0 up an own goal from 'Well defender Gary Fallon, who knocked the ball past his own keeper, following a wicked cross from Hibs' Lee Currie.

Hibs then produced a sublime goal to put themselves 4-0 up, Ross Chisholm played a neat one-two with Lee Currie, before deftly chipping the ball over the on-rushing Motherwell keeper.

With about 25 minutes to go the Hibees scored again to put themselves 5-0 up.

Young Hibee Darren Kelly picked the ball up on the edge of the Motherwell area, only to be faced with a number of Motherwell jerseys, he simply played a lovely little ball into the path of Sean Welsh, who smashed an unstoppable shot past the Motherwell keeper from about 15 yards out.

Motherwell pulled a consolation back in the last couple of minutes, but the Hibees had dominated from start to finish, with Irish forward Kurits Byrne in top form.
