Hibs are tonight close to signing Arsenal keeper Matt Macey.

The London giamts have agreed to free Macey from the last 6 months of his contract, and he is expected to sign a deal with the Hibees.

6ft 7in Macey was at the club's East Mains training facility today to have his medical, and agree terms on a contract, that is initially expected to be until the end of the season.

Hibs are expected to announce his signing tommorow.

Macey, 26, has only made two appearances for the Gunners, but has decent experience, having clocked up nearly 60 appearances spread over loan deals with Accrington Stanley, Luton Town and Plymouth Argyle.

Good too see the Hibees move quickly to deal with the departure of Dillon Barnes, and on-going injury problem with Ofir Marciano.

We have also recalled the exciting young Polish kid Kevin Dabrowski from his loan with Dumbarton, who will probably understudy Macey until the return of Rocky, most likely starting with the up-coming trip to face Celtic at Parkhead.

Boss Jack Ross has had to name goalkeeping coach Craig Samson on the bench a number of times this season when either Barnes or Marciano have missed out.

The only downside is Dabrowski not getting to finish a season long loan deal that was apparently going well for the player.
