Hibs set to sign defender Mikey Devlin

Last updated : 13 February 2023 By Steve Forbes

According to a report in tonight's Daily Record Hibs are set to offer a contract to defender Mikey Devlin.

The 29-year-old has been on trial with the Hibees for the last week, and has clearly impressed Hibs boss Lee Johnson.

Hibs are looking for another centre half, to replace Ryan Porteous, who joined Watford for £500,000 during the January transfer window and it seems Devlin, released by Fleetwood Town during the window, will be offered a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The 3 time Scotland international has played a few games for Fleetwood this season and should be pretty match fit to go straight into first team reckoning.

Devlin has previously played for Aberdeen, Stenhousemuir and Hamilton Accies and has played over 200 games in his career.

HIBS-MAD VIEW:

If this goes through it could be shrewd signing from the Hibees.

Devlin having played a few games and being match fit is a huge bonus, as he can go straight into the first team.

He has plenty experience and when fit is a big solid defender.

Despite his well publicised injury problems, a deal to the end of the season suits both parties and fills a big hole in the Easter Road squad.
