Hibs set to sign ex-Rangers kid Kyle McClelland

Last updated : 17 June 2022 By Steve Forbes

Hibs are reported to be closing in on another development side signing, as they close in on freed Rangers kid Kyle McClelland.

The 20-year-old Northern Ireland U21 internationalist turned down a new deal from the Ibrox club in the hopes of making the breakthrough at another club.

McClelland had been linked with a number of English sides, but it seems the Hibees are close to landing the player.

Hibs don't see him as a first-team player just yet, but are hopeful of landing him on a long-term deal so they can develop him for the future.

He has played in the Lowland League with the Rangers B team and also had a loan spell with Falkirk.

Hibs will not pay Rangers a transfer fee, but his former club will have a % interest in any future transfer fee.

HIBS-MAD VIEW:

We here at Hibs-Mad like what the club is doing with the new look development side.

Signing up talented youngsters from other clubs and building a new team, which they can develop and if needed, blood youngsters from it, maybe through injuries and suspensions to the first team.

Hibs have already signed up the likes of Runar Hauge, Allan Delferriere and AJ Johnson for the squad and it looks an exciting prospect for the future should it work.

The DV side will play games against U23 sides from England as well as other Scottish U19 sides.

Hibs have already trialed this, with games against Huddersfield U23's, Newcastle U23's and Middlesbrough U23's.
