Former Hibs captain Kevin Thomson is expected to re-sign for the Hibees in the next 24 hours.

The 28-year-old has been training with the club since his release from Middlesbough last month, in an attempt to keep himself fit.

Thomson is said to be desperate to sign up with his boyhood heroes again, and a deal is said to be close.

Hibs boss Pat Fenlon had stated that the club had spent their wage budget during the transfer window, but have since made it into the Scottish Cup Semi Final, freeing up some much needed cashflow.

Some press reports believe that Thomson has signed a two-year-deal at Easter Road, but Hibs-Mad understands that Thomson has signed until the end of the season, with an option of a further two years.

Thomson left Easter Road in 2007 under a cloud, seen by many fans as engineering a £2m move to Rangers through his negative comments in a newspaper column. However the Hibees are on the verge of another tilt at the Scottish Cup and now is the time the support need to unite. Make no mistake about it, Thomson would be a fantastic signing and improve the squad no end

Thomson could make his debut in the Edinburgh derby this Sunday, but the deal needs to bepushed through by 5pm tonight for that to happen.
