Hibs boss John Hughes has revealed that he is set to sign Lithuanian forward Valdas Trakys. The 31-year-old spent time on trial with the Hibees over the last couple of weeks, and has impressed Hughes. Hughes has revealed that a deal was close BEFORE Darryl Duffy broke his foot in training on Friday, but the on loan Bristol Rovers hitman’s injury has made Trakys’ signing all the more important. Trakys is expected to be paraded at Easter Road tomorrow, and is expected to sign a deal until the end of the season. Hibs will become the former Inter Baku players 15th club, after spending time in the likes of Greece, Germany and Russia, as well as his homeland, playing for the likes of Torpedo Moscow and FBK Kaunas.
The 14 times capped, 6ft 3in, hitman is a free agent, after his former club, Greek side Panserraikos F.C., broke his contract, so can sign on in Leith despite the transfer window being closed.
Hibs boss John Hughes said:
"I'd been looking for him to fight it out with Colin Nish with either Derek Riordan or Darryl up-front but I think Valdas will do us a number."
