Hibs set to sign St Mirren Midfielder Kyle Magennis

Last updated : 02 October 2020 By Steve Forbes

Hibs are close to securing the signing of St Mirren midfielder Kyle Magennis.

The 22-year-old has apparently spent the day at the Hibees East Mains training facility having a medical after wages, and a fee were agreed with the Paisley club.

The Hibees have apparently had a reported £170,000 + a 15% sell-on fee bid accepted for the player.

Hibs boss Jack Ross is hopeful of getting a deal across the line in the next few days.

Speaking to the BBC he said:

"I've just been told it's almost there.

"Kyle will be here tonight and has worked out most of his medical today. Hopefully it will be done very soon, but it isn't done yet."

St Mirren boss Jim Goodwin added:

"Kyle was a big player for us. I made him captain in the summer. I think the world of him as a lad," he said.

"Unfortunately things have changed overnight. I didn't want to sell Kyle; you'll need to ask Tony Fitzpatrick or someone on the board."

Magennis is St Mirren captain and has played over 100 times for the club.

What an excellent signing this would be if we pull it off.

The boy has bags of potential, and it's a statement of intent from the club and owner Ron Gordon.

It also shows the difference the support is making with HSL donations.
