It is thought that Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen is on the trail of TWO out-of-contract St Mirren defenders.

Irish right back David Van Zanten and Argentinean left back Franco Miranda are both thought to be in talks about signing pre-contract deals with the Hibees.

Van Zanten joined St Mirren from Celtic in 2003 after failing to establish himself at Parkhead, after moving there from Irish minnows Tolka Rovers in 1999.

The 25-year-old, who has also attracted the interest of Aberdeen, can also play on the right side of midfield.

Argentinean left back Miranda, 22, joined the Buddies from Helsingborgs under freedom of contract at the start of this season and has been in cracking form for the Paisley outfit.

He can also play on the left of midfield as well as his normal left back position and has scored a couple of cracking goals for St Mirren this season.

Miranda has also played for CAI, Racing Club and
giants River Plate in his homeland and would be an excellent signing for the Hibees.

With Curier already on his way out and rumours of a few more to follow, it looks like Mixu is already preparing for next season.
