Hibs boss Colin Calderwood has today revealed that he is close to completing the signing of Wolves striker Leigh Griffiths on six month loan deal.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is keen for the youngster to get more first team games under his belt.

The 21-year-old joined the English Premiership side last summer in a £200,000 deal from 1st division side Dundee, after three prolific seasons in the league, with both Livingston and Dundee.

Calderwood has now revealed that Hibs look set to win the race for Scotland B international’s signature, with Aberdeen also interested.

The fact that Griffiths is a self proclaimed Hibby would have helped.

Calderwood said:

"We're hoping to sign one more. And we hope that will be Leigh Griffiths.

"There's a bit of paperwork to be done and everything will need to go very well to get him here by the weekend.

"He's another goalscorer and I think that's what we need.

"Leigh had a big desire to come back to Scotland, and particularly here, so that has helped to push it through."

The loan signing of Griffiths comes only 24 hours after the Hibees secured Ritchie Towell on another loan from Celtic.

Those to join Ivan Sproule, Garry O’Connor, Junior Agogo, Sean O’Hanlon, Isaiah Osbourne and the loan of Phil Airey from Newcastle United as Calderwood’s summer signings.
