Hibs-Mad understands that Hibees boss Colin Calderwood could be about to land his second signing of the January transfer window, as he looks to pull his side up the SPL table.

Haitian international Jean-Francois Lescinel is expected to sign for the Hibees before Wednesday's crucial clash with Rangers at Easter Road.

The 6ft 2in defender can play at both left back, and in the centre of defence, and certainly fits the bill of Calderwood's wish to add height and strength to his struggling side.

24-year-old Lescinel has played over 40 times for English League One side Swindon, and has previously played for Paris St Germain and Guingamp in France, as well as a short spell at Falkirk in 2006 as a raw youngster.

We understand that discussions with the player are on-going, and that Hibs are hopeful of an announcement in the next few days.

Hibs boss Calderwood has already added midfielder Matt Thornhill from Nottingham Forest to his squad over the weekend, and is hoping Lescinel will join him. He is also hopeful of signing a thrid, un-named player before the Rangers game.
