Hibs have announced their second signing of the day, and their third in two days, with the capture of Arsenal defender Harry Clarke.

The 20-year-old has signed an 18-month loan deal, after his loan deal at Ross County was cancelled.

Clarke was excellent for the Staggies and his form has caught the attention of Hibs boss Shaun Maloney, who quickly moved to the land the player.

The deal does have two break clauses written into it, with Arsenal able to recall Clarke, either in the summer or next January should they wish.

He can play either as a central defender, wing-back or full back and brings some much needed freshness to the Hibs back-line,

Speaking to the official Hibs website, boss Shaun Maloney said:

“Harry has very good technical attributes in both attacking and defensive actions, and I’m really pleased we’ve been able to secure him for the Club.

“He will bring an exciting energy and speed in both areas, and I have no doubt he’ll be a big asset for us going forward.

“In speaking to him, I know how hungry he is to succeed and be a part of this Club and over the coming days I’m very much looking forward to working with him.”

Clarke said:

“I’m absolutely buzzing. It’s an incredibly club to be at. It’s only just sunk in,.

“I’m here, meeting everyone, beautiful facilities, and I’m buzzing to be here.

“I had to finish things with Ross County the right way because it’s an amazing club. It’s only just sinking in that I’m coming to a club of this stature, and I’m really pleased to be here.”

HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW

Hibs have are not hanging about this transfer window.

Owner Ron Gordon has clearly learned from the sjummer window, when the Hibees were not as active as they should have been, which has seen them struggle at times to fill the bench.

The Hibees are still expected to bring a few more in, with players heading out now also likely.

Clarke was superb for Ross County and it's antother exciting signing at Easter Road.

Some much needed fresh blood in defence.
