Hibs sign Drey Wright

Last updated : 10 July 2020 By Steve Forbes

Hibs today, finally, completed the signing of 25-year-old winger Drey Wright.

The former St Johnstone and Colchester United player has signed a 2-year-deal at Easter Road and his contract will start on July 26th, the agreed date which wage deferrals end with the first team squad.

Championship outfit Hearts tried to scupper the deal at the last minute, but the player was said to be not interested in a step down to the lower leagues.

Speaking to the official club website, Wright said:

"No-one had to explain the size of Hibernian as a club to me and as soon as I got off the phone from speaking to the gaffer and Graeme Mathie I knew it was the move I wanted to make.

“I spoke to a few boys who have played here and it was an easy decision in the end.

“First and foremost, I’ll give it everything I’ve got in every game. I know I’ll be expected to bring goals and assists, to help bring drive and energy to contribute in the attacking areas, but I also want to build a good relationship with the full-backs and make sure I can offer them some protection.

“They’ve made me feel really welcome and I can’t wait for the games to get up and running.”

Welcome to the Hibees Drey!!

He looks a good signing, he adds pace to the squad and another option in the wide area's.

Currently only Daryl Horgan and Martin Boyle can play on the wing, so iy adds numbers in an area that really needed it.

He has good experience as well.
