Hibs have today announced the signing of OB Odense midfielder Alasana Manneh.
The 26-year-old has signed a 3-and-a-half-year-deal at Easter Road for an undisclosed fee.
Discussions has been on-going since last week, when the Hibees looked like securing the Gambian international on a pre-contract agreement for him to sign this summer, but a deal has been struck and Manneh becomes David Gray's first January signing.
Manneh graduated through Barcelona's famous La Masia youth system and even made it to their B-side.
He had two loan spells whilst with Barca, one in Spain with Sabadell and another in Bulgaria with Etar.
However he left Barca before making a first team appearance.
Manneh's next top was a spell in Poland, before he moved on to Denmark with Odense.
He has played 17 times this season and had 7 assists as OB sit top of their league and look to gain promotion back to the top flight.
Manneh has been capped 18 times by Gambia.
Speaking to the official club website, Hibs boss David Gray said:
“We’re delighted to bring Alasana to the Club.
“As a player he’s very competitive, has a fantastic work ethic, and has good technical ability on the ball. At 26, he has good experience at senior level and playing in high-level leagues, and he adds extra strength in depth to the middle of our midfield. I look forward to working with him.”
HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW
It's good to see the Hibees finally land their first signing of the January transfer window.
Manneh bolsters a midfield that was looking a bit low on numbers after the departures of Jake Doyle-Hayes and Nohan Kenneh.
Luke Amos is also expected to depart this window, and with Joe Newell also out injured, it's a welcome addition.
Manneh has good experience having played nearly 200 games in his career, and with nearly a week left of the transfer window, he is expected to be joined by another couple of fresh faces.
