Hibs skipper Rob Jones has now come out and spoken against his agent Kevin Smith.

Jones, 27, has said he is more than willing to stay at Easter Road and that not everything reported in a tabloid yesterday was true.

The Hibs captain is apparently disappointed with the terms of a new contract that he was promised if he proved himself at SPL level.

The Hibs captain said:

"I didn't know anything about what went in the press on Wednesday. Some of it is correct but some of it is far from correct. The bits that were true related to the contract negotiations.

"We did have a talk when I first came here last year that if I did OK in my first season then we'd sit down and talk about the situation. That has happened, but it's not come out the way I would have liked.

"There's been speculation in the papers for a while now about my future and the last time I spoke to the media I committed my future to the club and that hasn't changed.

"I'm very happy here. I'm very proud to be the captain of this football club and for as long as I'm here I'll give everything I've got. That will not change.

"I'm also very happy playing football here. I'll go home eventually, I'm English and that's where my family is.

"But who knows when that will be? It's not in the foreseeable future, that's a fact.

"The unhappy bit was when we were in renegotiation of my contract. I was very unhappy with that. It did not go the way I wanted it to or I expected it to.

"That's the only thing I've been unhappy with at the football club.

"But I've just got to concentrate on what's happening on the pitch, rather than off it."

Leeds boss Dennis Wise has also confirmed that the English side have had a bid turned down for Jones, he said:

'We put an offer in and it got turned down. We're waiting to find out what else they would like really. We're trying to get certain players in and he's one we're interested in. That's all I can say really. We'll wait and see over the next week or so.'
