Hibs striker Steven Fletcher ruled out of St Mirren clash!

Last updated : 26 October 2007 By Steve Forbes

Hibs have been dealt another blow ahead of Saturday's SPL game with St Mirren at Easter Road, with the news that top scorer Steven Fletcher will miss the game through injury.

The 20-year-old Scotland U21 international hobbled off at
Fir Park last Saturday at half time during Hibs first loss of the season, 2-1 to Motherwell, and he is now out of tomorrow's clash with the Buddies.

Fletcher picked up the ankle knock prior to the Motherwell game and had to pull out of the Scotland U21 squad to face
Holland in the process. Fletcher was caught on the same ankle during the Motherwell game.

Hibs will be looking to get back to winning ways tomorrow, after surrendering their unbeaten start to the season last week, but will have to do so without a number of key players.

Guillaume Beuzelin is missing after having a clean-up operation on his knee, Benji is still trying to recover from Ramadan as well as a virus, Filipe Morais will serve a ban after being sent off at Fir Park last week and Fletcher will now join them due to his ankle injury.

Hibs boss John Collins said:

"Steven is still feeling a bit sore and it is highly unlikely he will be available. Obviously you'd like to have your top scorer playing but we have plenty of options at the top end of the pitch.

"There's every chance Ross will be involved in the squad while we also have others like Clayton Donaldson, Mickael Antoine-Curier, Merouane Zemmama and Dean Shiels so there's a number we can choose from."

This will mean Hibs will probabley start with Clayton Donaldson and Mikael Antoine Curier up front, a pairing who have proved a real handful for a number of defences already. Although there could be place for Dean Shiels and either Ross Campbell or Damon Gray could be drafted in to the squad.
