Hibs take Austrian keeper Marco Knaller on trial

Last updated : 04 November 2008 By Steve Forbes

Hibs have taken 21-year-old Austrian goalkeeper Marco Knaller on trial to have a look at the player.

He is a free agent after being released by Austrian First Division side Lustenau meaning the Hibees could sign him immediately if he impresses.

Hibees boss Mixu Paatelainen is looking for another goalkeeper to challenge current keepers Yves Ma-Kalambay and Andy McNeil, although Hibernian-Mad understands that McNeil has been told he can leave Easter Road in January should he find a club.

Knaller is a former Admira Wacker youngster and signed a two-year-deal with Lustenau in the summer of 2007.

He has 5 U21 caps for Austria and will spend time training at the Hibees £5m East Mains training facility.

UPDATE:

Knaller has injured himself during the trial and has returned home to Austria. He will come back to complete his trial once fit.
