Hibs have been given the superb news that they will be seeded in the draw, for the Europa League Third Qualifying Round.
The news came about due to Seville defeating Athletico Madrid in the Spanish Cup Final, resulting in Getafe (who have a higher co-efficient rating) being promoted straight to the play-offs, keeping Norwegian side Nordsjaelland (who have a lower co-efficient rating) in the 3rd qualifying round.
The draw will take place on July 16, and the Hibees will now avoid the likes of Liverpool, Juventus and Sporting Lisbon. It’s also good news for Motherwell, who, should they get through the 2nd qualifying round, will be seeded along with Hibs. Motherwell will actually be seeded slightly higher because they took part in the competiton last season. The bad news for Hibs and Motherwell is that should they get through the qualifying stages, and into the play-off’s for the group stages, they will both be un-seeded, meaning they will be up against the likes of Aston Villa, Manchester City, Porto, PSV & PSG.
