Hibs boss Alan Stubbs will, later this morning, pull of the biggest move in the Scottish transfer window so far.
Celtic and Republic of Ireland striker Anthony Stokes has agreed to join the Hibees on loan for the rest of the season.
Stokes, 27, was at the clubs East Mains training facility yesterday, but left without an agreement in place.
However, just a few hours later it was confirmed that Stokes had agreed to return to Leith on loan.
Stokes left the Hibees for Parkhead in 2010, following 24 goals in 42 games, for a fee of £1.2m.
Hibs have beaten of competition from Dundee Utd, Inverness CT, Sheffield Wednesday, Cardiff City and Charlton Athletic to land the striker.
The Hibees are hopeful that Stokes will join in time to make his debut against another of his former clubs, Falkirk, on Sunday.
