Hibs trigger Lewis Miller contract extension

Hibs have announced that they have triggered the clause in defender Lewis Miller's contract, that extends his stay in Edinburgh.

The Australian international was heading out-of-contract this summer, but the Hibees had put a clause of an option of a further year in his deal when he signed for the club, and they have used it to tie him down for another year.

Miller, 24, joined the Hibees in 2022 from A-League side Central Coast Mariners, despite having already signed a pre-contract with fellow Aussie side Macarthur FC.

Hibs paid Macarthur an undisclosed fee for him to head to Edinburgh instead.

The 6ft 2in defender has now played over 60 times for the club, and has forced his way into becoming an important player for David Gray's side, both at right-back and centre half.

He has also played his way in to international recognition whilst at Easter Road, having now gained 12 caps and 2 goals for the Socceroos.

Speaking to the official club website, Hibs boss David Gray said:

“This decision makes complete sense. Lewis has been working really hard on his game, he’s a very coachable player, and he’s seen the rewards from that so far this season.

“He has shown with his performances for us, and on the international stage, that he’s developing as a player.

“He’s a good character and is keen to constantly progress. We look forward to continuing our journey together.”
