Hibs youngster Kyle McLelland joins QOS on loan

Hibs have today revealed that young development defender Kyle McLelland has went out on loan.

The 21-year-old has joined Scottish League One side Queen of the South for the 2023/24 season.

McLelland will join fellow Development kid Murray Johnson at Palmerston, after the gifted keeper agreed a loan earlier this season.

Queens are managed, of course, by Hibs legend Marvin Bartley, who also secured former Hibs keeper Kevin Dabrowski on loan from Easter Road last season.

McLelland spent some time on loan with Cove Rangers last season, playing 9 times.

He also had a previous loan with Falkirk whilst still on Rangers books.

Speaking to the official website, Hibs boss Lee Johnson said:

“Kyle is a young defender with a lot of positive attributes and at his age he needs to have regular game-time to progress.

“We believe Queen of the South gives him the perfect platform to work on weaknesses in his game and to strengthen the positives.

“I look forward to seeing how Kyle benefits from this move.”

McLelland joined Hibs from Rangers last summer on a three-year-deal.

HIBS-MAD VIEW:

A good move for Kyle.

Some much needed game time, and he can come back to the Hibees next summer and be ready to hit the ground running.

Good luck Kid.
