Hibs have this afternoon learned who their possible opponents will be in next season's Uefa Intertoto Cup, IF they fail to qualify for the Uefa Cup, through finishing 3rd in this season's SPL.

The Hibees are currently in a three horse race with Motherwell and Dundee Utd for 3rd place in the SPL and the Uefa Cup place that comes with it, but Hibs have put their name forward as possible Intertoto entrants should they fail in their quest.

Should Hibs finish 3rd, then
Falkirk would then become Scotland's representatives in the Intertoto Cup.

Scotland's representatives will enter next year's competition at the second round, having to win through two rounds to make the Uefa Cup Qualifying Rounds.

The first possible destination for the Hibees will be either
Sweden or the Faroe Islands, with the first leg on either 5th or 6th July, which would be at Easter Road.

The second leg, away from home, would be played on either the 12th or 13th July.

The team most likely to qualify through the Swedish league look like being Elfsborg, while the team from the
Faroe Islands would be most likely Torshavn.

IF the Hibees then made it through to the third round, they could be faced with a any number of sides, from a number of countries.

In the second round you have Iceland (Fylkir Reykjavik) or Latvia (FK Riga) v
Ireland (Bohemians) or Wales (Rhyl).

Hibs would face the eventual winners of those three games, again starting with the first leg at home on either 19th/20th July, with the away leg on either 26th/27th July.

Confused yet???
