Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton has today confirmed an interest in Hibs skipper Rob Jones.

Despite the transfer window having just closed and not re-opening until January, The Ipswich manager has moved to confirm he is wanted at the Championship club, in what can only be seen as an attempt to unsettle the 6ft 7in giant.

Hibs have already seen off an attempt by Leeds Utd in the summer to unsettle the club captain by making public their £400,000 bid for Jones, only for it to be knocked back.

Reports suggested that
Leeds had also come in at the last minute of the summer transfer window with a second offer of £800,000, which Hibs also supposedly turned down.

Magilton then went on to compare Jones to ex Dundee Utd defender Jason De Vos, who was a massive flop in Scottish Football.

Magilton was up spying on Jones during Sunday's 3-2 win over Celtic at Easter Road and is said to have left highly impressed.

Speaking about the Hibs captain Magilton said:

"He did very well and is worth another look."

"We all know what a player and what a strong character Jason is, and Rob has the same credentials.

"Hibernian are not short of money and have no reason to sell so it remains to be seen whether they will be interested in selling the defender.

"We had heard a lot about him and I went to see what all the fuss was about and we will certainly be looking at him again."

Nice to see Magilton showing some respect to Hibernian FC by talking about a player under contract to the club, OUTSIDE the transfer window eh?
