Danny Lennon and Kenny Shiels have both today thrown their hats in the ring to become the new Hibs manager.

Former St Mirren boss Danny Lennon said today:

“There are some real challenges ahead for everyone at Hibs, but I would welcome the chance to address those challenges.”

“Hibs have some cracking young players coming through and breaking into the first team right now. I would love to work with these young lads and turn them into first-team regulars.

“I’ve been in their shoes and I know the expectations and demands of wearing that Hibs jersey. Developing young players into first-team regulars is one of the areas of football management I love the most.”

“Firstly, Hibs must compete well enough to get back into the top flight quickly. Secondly, they need to play an attractive style of football that will excite the fans. I would welcome the chance to give Hibs fans the type of football they want.”

Also speaking about the post was former Killie & Morton boss Kenny Shiels who briefly stated:

“If you’re asking me if I would be interested in the position then of course the answer would be yes.”

The main names for the Easter Road hot seat have so far been Ian Murray and John Collins.

With Tony Mowbray, Alex McLeish and Owen Coyle the other names mentioned.
